Understanding unconscious needs can transform relationships
Couples' counselling
Having recently completed my couples' training, I bring an attachment-informed, relational approach to working with couples - exploring not just what's happening on the surface, but the deeper patterns and unmet needs that shape how you relate to one another.
Choosing to come to counselling as a couple takes courage - it means being willing to look honestly at your relationship, together. Whether you're navigating a specific conflict, feeling disconnected, or simply want to strengthen your relationship before things become difficult, I offer a space where both of you can be heard, understood, and supported.
Couples' counselling can focus on various aspects, including:
Developing authentic communication

Learning to express needs and feelings genuinely, listening with empathy, and cultivating dialogue that fosters authentic connection and trust.

Addressing past hurts and traumas
Recognising the impact of past experiences on current dynamics, and working through painful or unresolved issues that keep resurfacing and causing challenges within the couple.

Understanding, resolving or navigating through relational conflicts
Identifying and addressing underlying patterns that lead to disagreements, misunderstandings, and emotional distance.

Enhancing intimacy and desire
Deepening the understanding of each other's needs to foster greater physical and emotional closeness, and exploring potential blocks to intimacy and desire.
Understanding unconscious needs can transform relationships
Understanding the deeper, often unconscious needs within a relationship can lead to profound transformations. What we observe on the surface seldom tells the entire story. Interactions between partners are frequently influenced by underlying emotions, desires, fears, and hopes. When these powerful forces remain hidden and unacknowledged, they can shape interactions, leading to repetitive patterns and unsatisfactory dynamics.
In my counselling practice, I help you identify and understand these unconscious needs, and guide you and your partner to address and fulfil them together within the relationship. My goal is to help you and your partner develop authentic and healthy communication methods, enabling you to express your needs, desires, and concerns clearly, directly, and respectfully.

What to expect

A collaborative environment: Both partners are given space and attention, ensuring that each voice is heard and respected.
Tailored approach: Recognising that there is no one-size-fits-all solution, I work collaboratively to understand your specific needs and develop a pathway that addresses your unique situation.
Attachment-informed therapy: Understanding the early attachment styles of both individuals in the couple, and their impact on current interactions.
Exploring underlying influences: Delving into the unconscious forces that shape relationship patterns and your emotional responses.
It is essential that there is a good match between the couple's needs and the therapist's style of working. For this reason, the initial session, while it has a charge, can be seen as a "trying on" session - allowing you to decide whether my approach is right for you.
Couples sessions are £115 for 50 minutes or £150 for 90 minutes.
Prices
Payment in cash on the day, or by bank transfer before the session.
Missed appointments with less than 48 hours notice will also be charged for.
Holiday dates can be mutually negotiated between us.
The beginning and end time of the counselling session will be honoured, even if you are late for any reason.
